Chile, Mexico, Peru to Be Present at APEC Summit in Vietnam
Cape Town, South Africa, Nov 7 (Prensa Latina) Chile, Mexico and Peru, the only Latin American members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Forum will also be present at the Da Nang Summit, Vietnam, this week.
On the way to the city of the Vietnamese center (Tourane in French colonial times), the presidential plane carrying the president Michelle Bachelet and her delegation made a stop to refuel in this attractive South African city.

Officials of the Direction of International Economic Relations (Direcon) of the Chilean Foreign Ministry recalled that the three nations will be in Da Nang with their respective heads of state.

They are members of the Pacific Alliance along with Colombia, a mechanism that since the presidency pro tempore held by Chile until last July promoted the reactivation of the Trans-Pacific Treaty (TPP), after the withdrawal of the United States.

At the same time, it was the turn of Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski to host the APEC summit in Lima last year, and Chile will be the scene of a similar meeting in 2019, after Da Nang this year and Papua New Guinea (2018).

Kuczynski announced on his Facebook account that Peru and Australia will sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Chile has 26 FTAs with the same number of countries and will take advantage of a little more than 24 hour stay in Hanoi to further strengthen its ties with Vietnam in an official visit. Bachelet travels accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heraldo Muñoz, and a high-level delegation.
